Well, the other day I was a bit frustrated, feeling like I the only thing I do is clean on my days off. The kids had just took their bowls of cereal from the table and dumped them onto the carpet in the family room and while I was picking up the majority of the mess by hand, I came across several Q-tips.
ARGH!!... Grrr... mmmm...
I hit one of those usual moments when I keep it to myself and was struck with an idea. All the Q-tips were collected as well as some hair rubber bands and a child hanger left on the couch. I went up to our room, pulled back the blankets on the bed I just made and put everything I just collected into her side of the bed.
After fixing the blankets so the bed was made again, I sat on the chair in my room and started to wonder what the odds were for me either making Carline mad or making her laugh. I figured the odds would be stacked against me if I was cranky in the evening, so I tried to be nice and positive when she came home.
I forgot about what I had done when Carline finally settled down for bed. I was down stairs working on the car, computer or whatever else Matix accidentally broke that day. When I finally came upstairs and got ready to get in bed, Carline asked me if the kids were playing in our bed during the day. Trying to not to look like I said, "No, no... They have not been playing in our room today."
"Well, I found several Q-tips and some hair rubber bands when I climbed into bed. What the..?? There is a hanger in the bed. Are you sure they didn't come up here?"
"Yeah I'm sure. It wasn't them....... It was a hint. You know, a hint"
She laughed really hard for about a minute. She got the hint and I'm a lucky man. I know plenty of wives that would be really irritated with a stunt like that. But not me. I have Carline and I knew the odds were pretty good that I would get a laugh.
By the way, why does Crayola still make candy scented markers? Because all it does is entice Keira to eat them. Here's some random pictures of Carline, Matix and a marker faced Keira.
